Fan Controller with Soil Moisture Input
Vegetronix specifically created this fan controller for our customer Bob Brown's Arizona Foundation Solutions. The controller has two fan speeds high and low that are set by the two sensor inputs. When soil moisture is wet, the fans speed will by high, and when the soil is dry the fan speed will low.
Easily and Safely Retrofit Radon Fans
Our fan controller is specifically designed for Rn4-EC4 type radon fans that have internal volume control boards. The fan's stock volume control board is replaced with our receiver module, and our transmitter controller module is mounted outside the high voltage junction box. This system safely separates the high voltage connections from the low voltage parts of the system.
Rugged Easy to Mount Case and Connectors
The transmitter module mounts to the lid of the junction box using the fans existing screw holes.
The sensors and power cables are easily attached with water proof quick connect connectors. The power cables are keyed so that they can't be connected incorrectly.
Designed for High Temperature Environments
Electronics will not overheat, since the fan is powered directly from AC, the controller electronics merely need to provide a low power control signal to the fan.
The power adapter is rated up to 170 °F

Fan Controller User Guide
Diagnostic LEDs
| Pattern | Controller State | Recommendations |
|---|---|---|
| Slow Blink (1Hz) | Fan is running normally in slow mode. | It's running as expected. |
| Fast Blink (4 Hz) | Fan is running normally in fast mode. | It's running as expected. |
| No LED | No voltage to the controller. | Verify there is no short on the input cable. Also verify the polarity of the cable is correct. Use a volt meter and measure the voltage on the input terminal blocks. You should see 15V coming into the board. |
How to Test the Controller
Connect the moisture sensor to the controller to their clearly marked connectors. Now grip the blade of the VH400 soil moisture sensor. The sensor will detect the moisture in your hand, and so it will tell the controller that it is wet, and will turn on the fan at the high speed.
Now release the sensor from your grip, and the fan will run at the lowest speed.
