Alternate Pumps. Prevent Overload. Automate Anything.
The Pump Plexor™ is a configurable sensor-driven relay controller that intelligently multiplexes up to four pumps, valves, motors, or other loads over time. By alternating operation between multiple devices, the Pump Plexor™ balances runtime, extends equipment life, and prevents circuit overloads caused by multiple high-current devices operating simultaneously.
Designed for graywater systems, irrigation systems, water storage tanks, wastewater applications, and industrial automation, the Pump Plexor™ combines programmable timing, sensor control, and relay management into a single easy-to-configure platform.
Unlike traditional duplex pump controllers, the Pump Plexor™ supports both analog and contact-closure sensors, allowing it to solve a wide variety of control challenges.
Why Use a Pump Plexor™?
Many systems require multiple pumps or devices to perform the same job. Traditionally, all devices are wired to operate simultaneously, creating several problems:
- Excessive current draw
- Tripped circuit breakers
- Uneven equipment wear
- Reduced pump life
- Increased maintenance costs
The Pump Plexor™ solves these problems by operating loads one at a time according to user-defined schedules and sensor conditions.
For example, instead of running four pumps simultaneously, the Pump Plexor™ can operate:
Pump 1 → Pump 2 → Pump 3 → Pump 4 → Rest
This dramatically reduces peak electrical demand while distributing wear evenly across all equipment.Prevents Circuit Overload
One of the primary advantages of the Pump Plexor™ is reducing electrical load.
By operating pumps sequentially instead of simultaneously, the Pump Plexor™:
- Reduces peak current draw
- Prevents nuisance breaker trips
- Allows multiple pumps to share a single circuit
- Reduces startup surge currents
- Simplifies electrical installations
Independent Sensor Control
Each relay can be assigned its own sensor input.
Supported sensor types include:
- Float switches
- Pressure switches
- Contact closures
- Leak detectors
- Water level sensors
- Analog level sensors
- Soil moisture sensors
- Custom sensors
Analog and Digital Sensor Support
Compatible with both:
- Contact-closure sensors
- Analog sensors - Including AquaPlumb® and other industry-standard water level sensors.
Adjustable Run Time
Configure the run time for each relay individually.
Examples:
- Run Pump 1 for 240 seconds
- Run Pump 2 for 120 seconds
- Run Valve 3 for 30 seconds
- Rest for 30 seconds
Ideal for balancing flow rates between devices.
Adjustable Rest Time
Configure the rest period between relay activations.
Benefits include:
- Motor cooling
- Pump recovery
- Tank refill time
- Reduced mechanical stress
Adjustable Sensor Thresholds
Sensor activation points can be configured as percentages directly from the keypad.
Examples:
- Turn on above 80%
- Turn off below 20%
- Activate between two levels
Analog Sensor Hysteresis
Built-in hysteresis prevents relay chatter and rapid cycling near threshold points.
Benefits include:
- Increased relay life
- Reduced pump wear
- More stable operation
- Improved system reliability
Easy Configuration
A built-in LCD display and keypad provide complete configuration without requiring a computer.
Adjust:
- Run times
- Rest times
- Sensor thresholds
- Hysteresis settings
- Relay assignments
- System parameters
All settings are stored in non-volatile memory.
USB-C Firmware Updates
New features and enhancements can be updated through the USB-C port.
Flexible Power Options
Power the Pump Plexor™ using:
- 5–12 VDC terminal block
- USB-C connector
Perfect for both permanent installations and bench testing.
Example Application
A graywater tank contains four transfer pumps.
The water level rises above the configured threshold.
Instead of starting all four pumps simultaneously, the Pump Plexor™:
- Runs Pump 1 for four minutes
- Waits for the programmed rest period
- Runs Pump 2 for four minutes
- Continues through Pumps 3 and 4
The cycle repeats until the tank reaches the empty threshold.
Benefits:
- Lower current draw
- No breaker overload
- Equal pump wear
- Longer equipment life
- Improved reliability
